Sinn Féin's Oireachtas team and leadership are meeting today at the Deerpark Hotel in Howth to focus on preparations for the return of the Dáil. Speaking at a meeting of Sinn Féin's Oireachtas team in Howth today Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caolain said: "In the coming months Sinn Féin will be setting out a major plan for party development across the 26 Counties and this will include key campaigns around health, the economy, regional development and community safety. South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has written to An t-Áire Ian Paisley and An tÁire Martin McGuinness as well as An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Dermot Mannion (Chief Executive, Aer Lingus), to highlight his concerns that Aer Lingus staff to be based in Belfast will be employed under less advantageous terms and conditions than their counterparts in the 26 Counties. Sinn Fein anti-poverty spokesperson, West Tyrone MLA Claire McGill says that she is encouraged that the Committee set up by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Michelle Gildernew to examine the problem of accessing childcare in rural areas and to make recommendations on how to improve rural childcare provision, will now bring forward its findings in January. Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty has welcomed today's all-Ireland Ministerial meeting on transport which took place in Enniskillen. Sinn Féin Minister Conor Murphy chaired the discussions which also involved DUP Minister Arlene Foster and Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey. This is the first in a series of meetings where key decisions on transport planning and road safety will be taken. The next meeting will take place in the south in December and Conor Murphy will host the third meeting in Newry in March 2008. Read full article
