The Irish government should redouble its efforts to build an all-Ireland economy by drawing up plans for cross border integration in all aspects of commercial and social development. It should direct its energies and influences towards also convincing the British government that the future lies in economic policies specifically for the island of Ireland detached from British Exchequer policies designed for the fiscal stability of the island of Britain. West Tyrone Sinn Féin MP Pat Doherty says that there are clear indications that the Dublin government has now been forced to amend its National Development Plan, which is scheduled to be published on January 19th, to include substantial investment in the main N14, A5, N2 route from the North West to Dublin so to bring it up to a standard comparable to other routes that are similarly designated as key strategic transport corridors on the island. Sinn Féin Assembly member for Foyle Mitchel McLaughlin has travelled to the European Parliament in Brussels where he is taking part in a delegation hosted by Bairbre de Brún MEP. The delegation is seeking to secure support for projects in the North West region. Read full article
